Psychological Evaluations for U-Visa Applicants

Helping victims of a serious crime support their U-Visa application.

You're worried about your immigration status and you haven't felt the same since the assault. Your attorney recommended a psychological evaluation to support your application, but you wonder if it'll actually make a difference, and you're worried about seeing a therapist because you're tired of repeating the story of what happened to you and don't want to keep opening up the pain.

While a psychological evaluation for your U-Visa application doesn't guarantee a favorable legal outcome, it is designed to address specific legal questions related to your case that your attorney alone can't answer.

You'll feel better knowing you followed your attorney's recommendation and did everything possible to support your case. You may also find the process of completing a psychological evaluation helpful in understanding the severity of what you've been through so you can begin the process of healing.

Hi, I'm Daisy (she/her).

I'm a trauma therapist, and I specialize in conducting psychological evaluations for immigration cases.

I work with immigrants, victims of crime and abuse, and LGBTQIA+ folks.

The Trauma-Informed Approach

A trauma-informed evaluation helps capture the lasting emotional and psychological harm caused by the serious crime you survived.

When I conduct psychological evaluations for U-visa applications, I start by reviewing your police report and getting to know you. I'll ask you about the details of the crime, and the effect it's had on you and your life. This will be difficult to talk about, but I will help you get back to feelings of safety in your body if you become overwhelmed or start to feel numb.

I'll also need to gather any other records relevant to your case. I'll then write up a comprehensive report addressing the specific legal issues or questions related to your application. This written report will then be used by your lawyer in your court proceedings.
